Under-19 off-spinning all-rounder Tarrique Edward left Saint Lucia this morning Tuesday, January 09, 2024, bound for Barbados where he will join up with other members of the West Indies Under-19 cricket squad, where they will prepare ahead of departing to South Africa for the 2024 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cricket Championship.

The hard work of Edward who is also Saint Lucia’s Under-19 captain has been lauded by the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association, as he seeks to establish himself on the international stage.

“We wish him the best on this journey and encourage him to keep flying our flag high,” stated SLNCA president Wayne Auguste. “We know that he will give a good account of himself in South Africa and we wish him and the entire West Indies team the best of luck in South Africa.”

Auguste recognized that the young Windies “will be up against the best of the best of the competing countries, their best Under-19s, so he Tarrique, and the other Windies Under-19s must perform against those guys and, establishing themselves as knowing what to do in certain on-field situations.”
