Three Saint Lucians have been selected to attend a Regional Training Camp for Under-19 cricketers. This comes about as Cricket West Indies is seeking to engage all of its affiliates and their coaching staff towards establishing tailored development plans for all selected players.

This programme is expected to be carried out in coordination with Cricket West Indies Pathway Male Coach; Rohan Nurse, along with other members of the region’s High-Performance Coaching Unit.

The three Saint Lucians selected are Khan Elcock, Theo Edward and Cody Fontenelle who will receive the appropriate training programmes which will ensure alignment with CWI’s objectives for the players’ growth and readiness.

Wayne Auguste; President of the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association is pleased with the selection of the three young cricketers as “another indication of the positive results of the implemented programmes of the SLNCA and the Saint Lucia High Performance Centre, the coaches who work with the players at the community level, and the players themselves who put in the hard work.”

“We cannot leave out he parents, as parental support is crucial towards sporting success, and I am pleased to congratulate the parents who support their children in pursuing their sporting objectives. It takes a village to raise a child and once all concerned unite in such endeavours, the sport of cricket will only grow from strength to strength.”

Auguste remains confident in the renewed confidence in the sport of cricket in Saint Lucia and the strides being made, but is cognizant that: “there is much work to be done, as foundations are being strengthened, which current and future generation of cricketers will ultimately benefit from. The selection of Khan Elcock, Theo Edward and Cody Fontenelle is another indication of the positive direction Saint Lucia Cricket is heading into.”
